The Greater Valley YMCA knows how to bring a crowd together.
More than 600 summer day campers joined Wednesday at Nazareth Borough Park for their annual summer field day.
Participating were kids from the Allentown YMCA & YWCA; Bethlehem YMCA; YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg & Vicinity; Forks YMCA Education Center; Nazareth YMCA; Pocono Family YMCA; Slate Belt YMCA; and Suburban North YMCA.
They held opening ceremonies and competed in relays, outdoor games, song contests and a tug-of-war.
The summer field day is an annual tradition that goes back before management agreements and mergers brought the local YMCAs all under one umbrella.
The Ys' summer camps and youth development programs focus on nutrition, water safety, academics, safe spaces to play and health.
