David Fagerstrom, formerly head of the River Valley Regional YMCA in Williamsport to take over for retiring chief Frank Frey.
David Fagerstrom will take over as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Valley YMCA, effective Aug.15. He will succeed Frank Frey, who served as president and CEO of the Greater Valley and Nazareth YMCAs for a combined total of 26 years. Frey retired this month.
Fagerstrom currently serves as president andCEO at the River Valley Regional YMCA (Williamsport), a position he has held since 2006.
He has 30 years of experience in the YMCA movement, with a strong track record of helping to advance the mission impact and financial stability of YMCAs.
In his current role at River Valley Regional YMCA, Fagerstrom has overseen a five branch YMCA with a $7M+ operating budget, over 400 employees, more than 50 branch advisory council and corporate board volunteers, and 9,000 plus members.
Fagerstrom, who previously served YMCAs in LaPorte, Ind., and Venice, Fla., has a degree from the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied early childhood education, computer science and business.
He will oversee the five YMCAs that in the last several years joined together as the Greater Valley YMCA: Bethlehem YMCA (Bethlehem), YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg & Vicinity (Easton), Nazareth YMCA (Nazareth), Slate Belt YMCA (Pen Argyl) and Suburban North YMCA (Catasauqua).
The association also includes the Forks YMCA Education Center (Forks Township), is in a management agreement with the Allentown YMCA (Allentown), and is supporting the volunteers leading the Saucon Creek YMCA discovery process who have a goal to build a new YMCA in the southern region of the Lehigh Valley.
