Police had a warrant to search the motel room.
Three people were arrested after a police task force raided a Bushkill Township motel room and seized various drugs, a loaded handgun and ammunition.
Arrested were Jeffrey Craig Roberts, 54, of Sciota, Monroe County; Shannon Michelle Harrington, 19, of Sciota, Monroe County; and Mark A. Nichols, 33, of the 600 block of Monocacy Drive in Moore Township.
A fugitive task force made up of Pennsylvania State Police, Bushkill Township, Moore Township and Palmer Township police officers had a warrant to search a room at the Red Carpet Inn. Officers were looking for Nichols.
Moore Township police in February received complaints of vehicles coming and going at all different times from Nichols' township home, as well as finding hypodermic needles on his property. Police then set up surveillance of Nichols' home.
Police said Nichols also was recently released from prison following thefts of vehicles and has a history of drug-related offenses.
A Moore Township officer in March attempted to stop Nichols for driving with a suspended license and Nichols led police on a high-speed chase in his Infiniti before crashing into an embankment at Monocacy Drive and Jones Road, court records said.
An officer following the crash found an open container of alcohol in the Infiniti, as well as a pill bottle; plastic bags filled with heroin, meth, cocaine and marijuana; a glass smoking pipe with residue; empty plastic bags; a scale; and rubber bands.
Investigators were tipped off Nichols was staying at the Red Carpet Inn, 1395 Jacobsburg Road. Roberts, the boyfriend of Harrington, was renting a room at the motel.
Harrington opened the door to the motel room when police began knocking, just before 3 p.m. Friday.
Police seized methamphetamine in plain view on the bathroom sink, unmarked pill bottles that were scattered throughout the room, several boxes of ammunition and a plastic bag with a crystal substance, court records said.
Additionally, police found a bag with a large quantity of meth, as well as a loaded semi-automatic, 9-mm pistol, magazine rounds, a scale and several small plastic bags with rubber bands.
Police said Nichols also was found to have a plastic bag of crystal meth in his pocket and Harrington had a glass pipe with residue on it in a luggage bag.
Roberts is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Harrington is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Nichols is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, restrictions on alcoholic beverages and various motor vehicle and traffic violations.
All three were arraigned before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez on Saturday. The judge set bail for Roberts at 10 percent of $75,000; $75,000 for Nichols; and 10 percent of $15,000 for Harrington.
All three were sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of bail.
