The victim told police she feared for her safety.

Nazareth man entered the home of a neighbor and fled when he realized the apartment was occupied, borough police said.

Todd Jones, of the first block of Wood Street, sometime on Saturday allegedly entered an apartment down the hall from where he lives through an unlocked door.

The caretaker of a disabled woman living in the apartment heard a noise and found Jones standing in the kitchen, police said. Jones then allegedly ran from the apartment.

Police said a short while later, the caretaker and the disabled woman heard someone trying to gain entry again through the front door, which was then locked. The caretaker then walked to the doorway and saw Jones running down the hallway, according to police.

Nazareth Police Chief Thomas Trachta said Jones only knew the victim as a neighbor. The victim told police she feared for her safety.

Jones is charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez, who set bail at $75,000.

In lieu of bail, Jones was taken to Northampton County Prison. The judge ordered Jones enroll in Pretrial Services and have no contact with victim.

The judge allowed 10 percent of $75,000 bail if approved by Pretrial Services.
