Main Street was closed for nine hours in the small borough.
A 16-year-old girl frightened by a spider drove her Jeep into a pole Thursday, shearing it and shutting down Main Street in Tatamy for nine hours.
The girl was driving west in the first block of the heavily-traveled Main Street around 5 p.m., according to Tatamy police Chief Keith Snyder.
She was passing Tony's Pizza when glare prompted her to pull down her sun visor.
"When she pulled the visor down there was a spider hanging there. As she attempted to brush the spider away she hopped the curb and struck the utility pole," Snyder said.
Main Street was shut down the length of the borough until the leaning pole could be replaced. Initial estimates said the repair might take two days but it was complete by 2 a.m. Friday, Snyder said.
Snyder said the girl lives in the Easton area. He declined to release her name because she's a juvenile.
