Male driver also had drug paraphernalia in his possession, cops said.
A Monroe County man was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in Moore Township.
Cordero S. Labella, no age provided, of Stroudsburg, shortly before 2 a.m. Monday was stopped by police at Mountain View Drive and Oaks Road for allegedly having an expired registration sticker.
Police said a township officer saw inside the vehicle Labella has multiple flashlights, tools, gloves and headlamps and asked Labella for permission to search the vehicle. Labella agreed, according to police.
The officer then seized a Walther P22 handgun, which police said came back as stolen; multiple empty plastic bags for storing heroin; and a syringe, according to police.
Labella is charged with receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia, fraud and various motor vehicle violations, including driving without a license.
He was arraigned before District Judge James Narlesky, who set bail at $20,000. In lieu of bail, Labella was sent to Northampton County Prison.
