The Golden Hawks blanked Pottsville and the Blue Eagles handled Northampton in the semifinals.
Bethlehem Catholic and Nazareth will meet for the PIAA District 11 3A team wrestling title after both team posted semifinal wins Saturday morning at Freedom High School.
The No. 1 seed Golden Hawks shut out No. 4 seed Pottsville 68-0 while the second-seeded Blue Eagles handled No. 3 seed Northampton 40-23.
The teams will meet in the finals at 5:30 p.m. at Freedom. Whether the loser will have to face a “true second” match at 7:30 p.m. to determine D-11’s second PIAA 3A berth will be decided in the consolations this afternoon and at 5:30 p.m.
Nazareth improved on its margin over Northampton from a 35-24 win Jan. 19. The Blue Eagles welcomed freshman Andrew Cerniglia back to the lineup after he missed six weeks with a broken collarbone and he delivered a technical fall triumph at 106 over Sam Hanley.
Zac Keifer (182) and Tucker Klump (195) won decisions in the first two bouts to get Nazareth (15-1) off to a solid start that the Konkrete Kids (14-2) never quite overcame.
The other semifinal was never in doubt as Becahi (12-3) overwhelmed the Crimson Tide (14-3) from the start. Notable wins for the Golden Hawks came from senior Jody Crouse, 5-1 over Kory Kleckner at 195; freshman Kenny Herrmann, 5-0 over Nick Onea at 113; and sophomore Luca Frinzi, 4-3 over Richard Bentz at 145.
