UPDATE: Motorcyclists killed on Route 33 in freak crash with deer
Authorities early Monday investigated a fatal crash on Route 33, north of the Belfast exit in Bushkill Township.
It happened about 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes, just south of the Kromer Road overpass.
Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast didn't release details but said the highway was reopened after being shut down for hours.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer and two fatalities, according to initial reports that were unconfirmed. The Northampton County Coroner's Office was summoned to the scene.
Route 33 was reopened after 7 a.m.
